Child Protection

The NAC swim club recognises the absolute necessity for the highest standards in child protection and the club has developed its own Child Protection Policy which is in accordance with the Swim Ireland Child Protection Policy, the Children’s First: National Guidelines for the welfare and protection of Children and Code of Ethics and Good Practice for children’s sport. This policy document as well as the Swim Ireland guidelines is held by our Club Childrens Officer.  The Club’s Children Officer operates independently of the club committee.

All committee officers and coaches have signed and forwarded permission for searches by An Garda Siochana in compliance with Swim Ireland guidelines on child protection. The club is fully compliant with all procedures and processes in this area. In addition, each training session, whether land or pool-based is supervised by a parent at all times. Training cannot commence unless parental supervision is in place.

The club, while wishing to compete at the highest level recognises that its primary role is to develop, maintain and encourage all swimmers at whatever level they compete at. The swimmer who comes second to last in a novice gala is as important as those who compete at the National finals. Our club is about all our swimmers.
